Holo Pro Caregiver App Overview

How the Caregiver App works, what it can do, and how caregivers use it day-to-day

Overview
The Holo Pro Caregiver App is an optional paid feature that allows family members and caregivers to stay connected to a Holo Pro wearer. The app works alongside the Holo Pro device to provide added visibility, helpful alerts, and peace of mind—especially for caregivers who can’t always be physically present.

Important compatibility note
• The Caregiver App is designed to be used with Holo Pro devices in Always On mode.
• The app is enabled per customer/device (it must be turned on for the specific subscriber).
• Access to the app is a paid feature.

Supported Phones
The Caregiver App is available on:
iOS (Apple iPhone)
Android

Caregivers download it from their phone’s app store.

What Caregivers Can Do in the App

Location and safety
• View the wearer’s most recent location
• Request an updated location (with battery-saving limitations)
• Add Places the wearer visits often and receive enter/exit notifications (optional geofencing)

How the Caregiver App Works
The app displays the most recent information sent from the Holo Pro device to the platform. Some features (especially location updates) are intentionally designed with limits to help conserve device battery.

Location update timing (battery-saving design)
• The app requests a location update at most every 30 minutes.
• If less than 30 minutes has passed since the last update, the app will show the most recent location instead of forcing a new request.
• This buffer exists to protect battery life.

Getting Started (First-Time Login Tour)
When a caregiver logs in for the first time:

  1. Download the Caregiver App on their phone.

  2. Open the app and tap Register.

  3. Enter their email address.

  4. An authentication code is emailed to them.

  5. Enter the authentication code in the app.

  6. Create a password.

If the caregiver doesn’t receive the code, they should check junk/spam folders and confirm they typed the email correctly.

Home Tab (What Caregivers See First)

Location
• Displays the most recent location
• Tap to open the Location tab and refresh

First Motion
• Shows the first movement of the device today (after 5:00 AM)
• Tap to view history for the last 7 days

SOS
• Shows the most recent SOS button press and fall detection alarm
• Includes a 7-day graph
• Tap to view full history

Steps
• Shows steps for today
• Tap to view step history for the last 7 days

Battery
• Shows the most recent battery level

Refreshing the Home screen
• Pull down to refresh the Home screen.
• Refreshing updates all tiles and requests a location update no more than every 30 minutes.

Location Tab (How Location Requests Work)

What happens when a caregiver requests location

  1. The platform sends a request to the Holo Pro device.

  2. The device turns on its GPS and attempts to get a GPS fix.

  3. The device sends the updated location back if it has:
    • Adequate GPS coverage, and
    • Adequate cellular signal

What caregivers should expect
• Location updates can take up to a minute.
• Frequent refreshes can impact device battery life.
• If the device is in an area with weak GPS or cellular coverage, the app may show the last known location instead.

Extra location details
• Tap the map pin to view more details about the location.
• “Places” (if enabled) is managed from the Location area of the app.

Device Tab (Settings and Controls)

General
• Switch Device (for caregivers monitoring more than one supported device)
• Change the device nickname
• Ring Device: rings the device 3 times to help locate a misplaced pendant
• View subscriber details
• View device details (Device ID, device model, carrier)

Activity
• Change the daily step goal
• Adjust the first motion target time (used for “No First Motion” alerts)

Alerts
Caregivers can toggle in-app notifications for:
• Button press
• Fall detection
• Low battery
• Power off
• First motion
• No first motion
Important: Tap Save after changing settings.

History
• View the history of alerts the caregiver has received inside the app.

Note about email/text alerts
• To modify email and text alerts (not in-app notifications), the subscriber should contact support.

Settings Tab
Caregivers can:
• View support information
• Edit information about the app user
• View app version
• Sign out

Important note about subscriber info
• Updating caregiver login/profile information in the app does not update information at the monitoring center.
• For subscriber/monitoring record changes, contact support.

Resetting a Password

  1. Go to the login screen.

  2. Tap Forgot your password?

  3. Follow the emailed instructions to create a new password.

Caregiver App Places (Geofencing Feature)
Places is an optional geofencing feature that can be enabled per Holo Pro device (only for devices that have the Caregiver App enabled). With Places, caregivers can add locations the wearer visits often and receive enter and exit notifications.

How to enable Places (admin/dealer setup)
To enable Places for a device:

  1. Confirm the Holo Pro device is set to Always On mode.

  2. Enable the Caregiver App toggle for the device/subscriber.

  3. The Places toggle will appear below the Caregiver App toggle. Turn Places on to enable the feature for that device.

Places overview (what caregivers do in the app)
• In the app, caregivers go to the Location tab and tap Places to set up geofencing.
• Places can represent areas the wearer visits often (example: home, a family member’s house, a community center).

Place radius options
Each Place has a configurable radius:
150 meters
200 meters
250 meters
Tip: For larger buildings or properties, choose a larger radius.

Place limits
• Up to 4 Places can be saved per device.

Shared Places list (important)
Places are configured on the device itself, so:
• All caregivers monitoring the same device share the same Places list (addresses, names, and radii).
• If one caregiver creates, edits, or deletes a Place, it affects all caregivers monitoring that device.
• Each caregiver can still choose whether they personally want to receive enter/exit notifications for those Places.

Battery impact and charging recommendation
Using Places increases GPS activity and may reduce battery life.
• If Places are enabled, we recommend charging the device daily.

How to Add a New Place (Caregiver Steps)

  1. Open the app and go to the Location tab.

  2. Tap Places.

  3. Tap Add New Place.

  4. Enter an address (suggestions will appear as you type).

  5. Enter a name for the Place.

  6. Choose whether to receive notifications when the device enters and/or exits the Place.

  7. Select the radius (150m, 200m, or 250m).

  8. Tap Save.

How to Modify an Existing Place

  1. Go to the Location tab.

  2. Tap Places.

  3. Tap the pencil icon beside the Place name.

  4. Update the address, name, notification preferences, and/or radius.

  5. Tap Save.

How to Delete a Place

  1. Go to the Location tab.

  2. Tap Places.

  3. Tap the pencil icon beside the Place name.

  4. Tap Delete at the bottom of the screen.

  5. Confirm deletion (this deletes the Place for all caregivers monitoring that device).

How Place Notifications Work

Confirmation notification after changes
After adding or editing a Place, caregivers may receive an enter/exit popup notification the next time the device moves. This is a “confirmation” that the device has established whether it is currently inside or outside the Place boundary.

Ongoing enter/exit notifications
After the confirmation, caregivers will receive enter/exit notifications when the device:
• Enters a Place radius, or
• Exits a Place radius

Movement and timing behavior
• The device checks GPS for Place enter/exits periodically while it is moving.
• Notifications can also happen if the device enters/exits and then stops moving for about 2 minutes.

When extra notifications may occur
Caregivers may receive enter/exit notifications unexpectedly:
• After the device battery fully discharges and is recharged
• After a device firmware update
• After the device is rebooted

Important limitations (when notifications might not happen)
• If the device moves continuously and passes through a Place quickly (example: driving past home), a notification may not be sent.
• If the device is in an area with weak GPS or weak cellular signal, Place notifications may not send and the app may rely on the last known information.
