Holo Mini Lights and Reset Mode Guide
How to understand indicator lights and safely power the device off and back on
Overview
Holo Mini uses two main indicator lights to show device status:
• Red Battery Light (battery/charging status)
• Blue Call Light (connection/call status)
Holo Mini also has a small reset button on the back of the device. Pressing the reset button powers the device off and places it into a temporary “sleep/reset mode” until it is turned back on.
This article explains what each light pattern means and what happens when you use the reset button—especially when preparing a device for shipping or air travel.
Know the Lights on Holo Mini
Holo Mini has two key lights:
Red Battery Light
Shows charging and battery status.
Blue Call Light
Shows call activity and wireless connectivity status.
Red Battery Light Meanings (Ready Mode and Always On Mode)
Use the red light to confirm charging, full charge, or low battery.
Battery low
• Red light flashes every 26 seconds
Charging (device on cradle)
• Red light flashes every 5 seconds on the cradle
Fully charged (device on cradle)
• Red light is solid on the cradle
Normal operation or battery fully discharged
• Red light is off
Booting / starting up
• Red light flashes every 2 seconds for 30 seconds
Blue Call Light Meanings
The blue light indicates normal connectivity, call activity, or service issues. Behavior can differ slightly depending on whether the device is in Ready Mode or Always On Mode.
Normal blue light patterns
On the charging cradle (Ready Mode and Always On Mode)
• Blue light flashes every 5 seconds: Normal
Off the cradle
• Ready Mode: Blue light flashes every 26 seconds for 3 minutes, then turns off: Normal
• Always On Mode: Blue light flashes every 26 seconds continuously: Normal
During a call (Ready Mode and Always On Mode)
• Blue light is solid: Normal
Blue light off
• Ready Mode: Off can mean normal or battery discharged
• Always On Mode: Off typically indicates battery discharged (unless the light configuration was modified)
Blue Light Warning Patterns (Service Issues)
These patterns usually indicate the device may be out of service, has limited coverage, or needs support.
Out of service (on the cradle)
• Blue light flashes every 1 second on the cradle: Out of service — contact support
Limited or no service (off the cradle)
• Ready Mode: Blue light double-flashes for 3 minutes, then turns off: Limited or no service — contact support
• Always On Mode: Blue light double-flashes off the cradle: Out of service — contact support
Out of service after pressing the button
• Blue light flashes every 1 second for 5 seconds after a button press: Out of service — contact support
If you see any of the warning patterns above repeatedly, contact support for help diagnosing connectivity or service status.
Reset Button and Reset Mode (Sleep Mode)
Holo Mini includes a small reset button on the back of the device. Pressing it powers the device off and places it into a sleep/reset mode.
When to use the reset button
Before shipping a Holo Mini device or bringing it on a flight, it is recommended to press the reset button for 1–2 seconds to power it off.
What you’ll hear
When the reset button is pressed, the device announces:
“Powering off. To power back on, press the SOS button or place on the charging cradle.”
What you’ll see
• The device light briefly turns red, then turns off—this confirms the device has powered down.
• If you press the reset button a second time, nothing happens, confirming the device is still off.
Important call behaviour
• If the reset button is pressed during an active call, it will terminate the call immediately.
What Reset Mode Does
After using the reset button, the device remains in sleep/reset mode until it is reactivated.
While in reset mode
• Fall detection is not active
• Pending commands are not synced
• Low battery and power-off alerts are not sent to customers
• In the Dealer Portal Status History, the device shows “ChargingState 4”
• A red icon appears beside the battery level (Dealer Portal)
Daily status report behaviour
After the reset button is pressed, the device may briefly wake for about 30 seconds to send its daily status report (including battery/timer test), then returns to sleep. This is normal.
How to End Reset Mode (Power Back On)
Reset mode ends when the device is reactivated using one of these methods:
Option 1: Place the device on the charging cradle
• This wakes the device and takes it out of reset mode.
Option 2: Press the call/SOS button
• First press: You will hear beeps and the voice prompt:
“Powered on, ready for use.”
• Second press: The device places a call to the monitoring center.
