How automatic fall detection works
What happens when a fall is detected and why it may not trigger every time.
Automatic fall detection is enabled by default on all Holo Alert devices. It uses sensors to detect a hard fall and can place an alert without a button press.
What to expect when a fall is detected
Fall detection follows a simple safety-first flow designed to get help to you when you can’t press the button yourself.
Typical flow
-
The device detects a fall-like event.
-
The device prompts you to respond (for example, a vibration and/or voice prompt).
-
If there’s no response, the device places an alert to the monitoring centre.
-
A monitoring centre operator speaks with you through the device and coordinates help if needed.
What you should do
• If you’re okay, respond to the prompt as soon as you can.
• If you need help, stay as calm as possible and speak clearly through the device when the operator connects.
• If you’re able, you can always press the help button at any time—especially if you feel unwell or unsafe.
Important limitations
Fall detection is not guaranteed
• Some falls may not be detected.
False alerts can happen
• Some movements can look like falls and trigger an alert.
What this means in real life
• Fall detection is a helpful safety feature, but it can’t replace pressing the button when you need help. If you can press the button, do so.
